Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a non-invasive approach to health care. By treating the spinal column, a chiropractor is able to influence the nervous system which is the master controller of the body. This not only helps alleviate pain, but also improves overall bodily function down to the cellular level!

I was born and raised in Fairfield, Ohio. I am a graduate of Stephen T. Badin High School in Hamilton, Ohio. I went on to earn my Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

Growing up, I was unsure about what career path I wanted to take. So, I spent my late teens and early adulthood working different jobs; everything from retail clothing and pet stores to HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) and even some time as a corrections officer and bailiff.

During my time working in HVAC, I had to perform a lot of heavy lifting and eventually developed lower back pain that seemed to be getting worse as time went on. I also began to experience Restless Leg Syndrome, at night, which interfered with my sleep. At that time, one of my friends from high school (who is now my wife 😊) worked for a chiropractor. I called and asked if she thought he could help me with the symptoms I was suffering from. Without hesitation she told me, “Absolutely!” and I began care shortly after.

During my initial examination, the doctor explained to me where the problem was coming from. He explained that I was supposed to have specific motion and developed muscle groups in my lower back that I didn’t have. Something else I had struggled with, that I never thought to tell the chiropractor, was at the age of 12 I was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and was prescribed medications to help control my symptoms. Over the next ten years, I was switched from Conserta, to Stratera, to Adderall, to Adderall XR and finally to Vyvanse. My dosages were continually increased until I was taking 70 mg of Vyvanse daily. I started to lose weight because I had no appetite while on the medication. Additionally, I was noticing some changes in my mood and began to experience troubling mood swings. When I returned to my medical doctor, she told me that was a normal side effect of the medication and I was going to now need an anti-depressant/anti-anxiety medication to, as she put it, “function normally”. The idea of an additional medication to counteract side effects of the first medication did not seem right to me. It was then that I felt there had to be a different way – a better way.

I never thought to tell the chiropractor about my ADD, because my understanding at the time was that chiropractors treated neck and back pain. However, while in for a follow up visit, the doctor asked if I had any other musculoskeletal or neurological symptoms. At that time, with reluctance, I told him about my ADD diagnosis, as I did not think it mattered. The doctor explained that with a mispositioned, or subluxated, upper neck this could cause some of the symptoms I was experiencing. The doctor explained to me, he treats a lot of kids and adults that see positive results with chiropractic care and their ADD symptoms. So, I went back to my medical doctor and we worked to ween off both medications.

Shortly after starting chiropractic care, I noticed some changes in my ability to sit and read and I decided to return to college to finish my degree. While in college, I earned the best grades I ever had in my entire life. And the best part was, I was medication free! I started working at that chiropractic office and remained there while finishing my bachelor’s degree. I witnessed such amazing health and healing in the patients through all age groups – from infants to grandparents. It was then, with the encouragement of my chiropractor, that I decided to continue my education and go to school to become a chiropractor.

I attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Port Orange, Florida receiving my Doctorate of Chiropractic degree in June of 2020.

My mission is to serve my patients through education about chiropractic and a holistic approach to health. I love providing care to families, from infants to teenagers, adults to grandparents and everyone in between.
